Our Mission

The mission of Portal de Salud is to help Hispanic/Latino families live healthier lives by promoting health education and improving access to primary care and preventive care services.

To achieve its mission Portal de Salud, Inc. has developed a Wellness Program which is unique model that coordinates health education, early detection through screening services and navigation to medical services. This includes helping clients find permanent medical home, so they receive affordable, continuous care.

Our signature event is one of the biggest health fairs conducted in the Hispanic/Latino community which provides an array of screening services and engages a large number of healthcare providers and community organizations in an effort to enhance the well-being of the community.

Who We Serve

Portal de Salud, Inc. serves a large community of Hispanic/Latino families who are members of the community and that include more than 8,000 families (30,000 people) residing mostly within the Metro Atlanta area, but mostly in Gwinnett, Dekalb and Fulton counties. Most of them lack access to health care, do not have health insurance, and experience language and cost barriers. A minority of them has health insurance coverage provided by their employers, however they do not have the knowledge to navigate the system or the resources to pay high deductibles to access services.

About Us

Portal de Salud, Inc. was funded as a health ministry and later organized as a Georgia Non-Profit Organization and registered as a tax-exempt organization under the I.R.S. Section 501-C-3. We serve the Hispanic/Latino community mostly residing in Gwinnett County. Through our network of healthcare providers, academic partners, local clinics and resources, Portal de Salud, Inc. is connecting the community to primary care services, bringing health education and health screenings to help detect abnormalities and disease in the early stages.

Olga Lucia Jimenez
Executive Director

Mrs. Jimenez has more than 30+ years of experience working in the health field and in the Hispanic community in Georgia. She worked at Mercy Care Services as a Clinical Coordinator. She also worked at the American Cancer Society managing their grant contract with the Georgia Department of Public Health Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. During her tenure at ACS, she created the Patient Navigation Program and managed 11 Patient Navigators. Most recently, she worked at the Department of Public Health as a Patient Navigation Program Manager. Following the tragic death of her mother in 2012, Mrs. Jimenez founded Portal de Salud as a non-profit status in the State of Georgia.

Claudia Liliana Jiménez BSN, RN

Ms. Jimenez obtained her bachelor’s in science of nursing degree from Mercer University in 2018. She started her nursing career at Emory’s Hematology/Oncology department. Since 2021, she has been working as a travel nurse and completed several assignments at different hospitals in Florida, Arizona, Texas, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Born, raised, and educated in Chicago. Married Enrique Francis in 1980, moved to Atlanta in 1983, and I have two beautiful children. I have always enjoyed OB/GYN and High-Risk OB and in 2002, I was recruited to be the Clinical Administrator for the CIMA Clinics. In 2013, I bought the clinic with my husband, and we continue to offer women the finest Maternity Care, Family planning, and Gyn Services. I love to garden, cook, wreath making, and listen to Classical Music.

Ines Beltran M.Ed.

Ines Beltran has a bachelor’s in food science and a master’s in science of Adult Education from the University of Georgia. Through leadership roles and collaborations with private and government agencies, she coordinates, plans and implements programs about prevention and management of chronic diseases. Ines utilizes television, radio, a bilingual blog and newsletters for educational and promotional purposes. She is passionate about educating others to become healthier, and happier.
Kenya Kirkendoll

Kenya Kirkendoll

Dr. Kirkendoll is a registered nurse with clinical expertise in public health, community health and occupational health nursing. She is a proud HBCU graduate of LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, TN. At LeMoyne-Owen College she earned a baccalaureate degree in biology. Dr. Kirkendoll went on to earn graduate nursing degrees from Emory University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

She began her nursing career in critical care. It was her desire to help people avoid intensive care units and hospital admissions that led her to community health. Other past clinical positions include interventional radiology and research coordination of cardiovascular nursing studies and HIV vaccine clinical trials. Recognizing the importance of nursing professionals in the care and well-being of individuals and communities, Dr. Kirkendoll transitioned to nursing education with a desire to participate in the development of the next generation of nursing professionals.

Dr. Kirkendoll teaches in the baccalaureate and PhD nursing degree programs in the School of Nursing at Georgia State University. Her research interests center on empowering vulnerable groups to achieve better health through knowledge acquisition and self-management skills.
